Hi, I’m Lara Guest.
I’m an aspiring fiction and editorial writer, finally taking my writing goals seriously after a decade of false starts. I built this website not only as a means of continued procrastination, but also as a declaration of intent, and a way to hold myself accountable moving forward.
When I’m not working behind the scenes on my collection of rejection letters*, I’m here, writing through the lens of curiosity as a way to explore the threads of connection in our world.
Why have I chosen to focus my extracurricular writing on curiosity? Because I worry about the lack of curiosity being baked into so many aspects of our society today. Writing about it in various forms is my way of ensuring that I continue to live curiously.
My background is in Psychology and International Relations, and I’ve previously worked in international media. I have dedicated the last handful of years to nonprofit work for Lebanon, and before that was a stint in the wine industry (to keep life interesting).
Lover of snow and solitude. Never far from my cat, a cup of tea, and a good pair of sunglasses.
If you’d like to connect, you can contact me here, or follow along on Instagram.
*F. Scott Fitzgerald famously collected 122 rejection letters before he sold a story, and used them to paper his office wall. I’ve still got a ways to go.
A note on AI: I do not use AI for any part of the writing process. I also do not use generative AI for anything, including images. The good, the bad, and the embarrassing here, and on my social media, is 100% proudly mine. When possible, all images will be credited appropriately.
Oh, and I’m strongly committed to the em-dash — I refuse to let AI take that from me.
